The Best London Fashion Week Street Style

Fashion Month is the place to spot next season’s ‘It’ item (J.W. Anderson’s new ‘Pierce’ bag, anyone?) Though this is perhaps only half of the story. Because it’s not just the runway you’ll be spotting the next trend we’ll all be wearing in three months time anymore. The street style set flocking to New York, London, Milan and Paris will serve enough sartorial inspo to keep you going for a while. And so we turn to London: Celebrating all cool-girls across the land (and the odd fashion peacock)…

Unlike the more commercial ‘Working Girl’ wardrobes in New York, over the next few days our capital embraces colour, creativity and rebellious fashion like no other (sure, we’re a little bias). From the must-have specs spotted to luxe layering - here’s our pick of the best looks from LFW’s style tribes…

The Straw Bag

Yes, it's a trend associated with sun-filled breaks and of course, the beach. But this season the basket bag has been reinterpreted. Bloggers far and wide have been spotted carrying their show invites in woven accessories and we cannot wait to invest in our own...

The most trans-seasonal accessory in all the land?
It's up to you whether you opt for a supersized straw or kitsch cross-body alternative, just finish the look with minimal accessories.

'80s PVC

Vinyl trousers, macs and trench coats (think Jennifer Anniston circa 1998), all made it to the streets last season. And this fashion month, it's proven a strong contender in the sartorial stakes once again.

Patricia Manfield dons this season's biggest trend at London Fashion Week.
Channel the look this season with deconstructed jeans and a wide-cuff shirt. Power shoulders optional.

The 'Drouser'

Yes, it's officially a thing. The way you used to wear a floral chiffon dress over your jeans back in the noughties? It's been re-invented this season. We give you the 'drouser'.
The noughties cult trend has made a comeback this season
So don't be afraid to don a knee-skimming ruffled dress over blue jeans. Finish with white mules and minimal accessories.

Stirrup Leggings

Yep, we're obsessed with the candy striped handbags and blush hued trousers coveted in abundance this fashion week. But what the photographers have snapped this season is the stirrup pant.

These stirrup pants by Emilio de la Morena work well over glittery ankle boots and complimentary candy floss hues.
A trend once reserved for horseriders and dancers, the garment has been reinvented this season. Rock them over glittery ankle boots and supersized sleeves.

Supersized Pinks

It's the hue of the season (again). So don the blush shade in abundance and opt for supersized silhouettes and oversized sleeves.

Opt for waterfall-effect ruffles when donning the sweet hue.

We recommend giving the cold shoulder with unexpected
cuts and kimono-inspired prints.

Scarlet Woman

Street style favourite and uber-stylist Kate Foley shined the spotlight on red (the AW17 shade to shop now - spotted at Victoria Beckham, Oscar de la Renta and The Row). Bonus points if you match your lippy to your skirt.

The ‘90s Frames

Tinted specs are turning out to be the most popular sunglasses of Fashion Month. And the hue of choice? Mellow yellow, of course. Your icons to channel this spring: The Olsen Twins circa ’95 and, um, Ali G. Apparently.

Viva La Volume

The corset may be experiencing something of a revival, but this season’s most buzzed-about designer, Molly Goddard, highlighted that frills and OTT volume is having a moment, too. A long-time fan of the London-born talent, Agyness Deyn, wore one of her signature tulle dresses to her show. Black magic.
